Well done girls.

Jean - you are doing brilliantly. Hope your clothes are beginning to feel a bit looser Smile

Melly. Home made soups. I buy a pack of ready prepared veg from supermarket. Put in saucepan with 1 litre water and two chicken or veg stock cubes and simmer for about half an hour. You can get a little hand blender from Tesco for about a fiver and I use it when the soup has cooled down and blend it into a smooth soup. If you want it a bit creamy, just stir in a spoonful of low-fat Philladelphia cheese. Sometimes I add a tin of tomatoes and a teaspoon of herbs to the soup. All depends on my mood. I eat some and freeze some, but don't freeze cheese in it!

No need to lift saucepans.
Put empty saucepan on hob, add veg from packet.
Put water in a bit at a time if you can't carry a litre.
When cooked and cooled, blend in the saucepan.
Ladle out of saucepan into containers.
Then the empty saucepan can be washed.

I also like sugar-free jellies with tinned fruit in.

Activia do FAT FREE yoghurts. Be careful because they also do ones that are not fat free. The packs have 'Fat free' in large letters on the side.

I buy frozen stir fry vegetables and cook strips of chicken first and then add the stir fry.

You can get 1-person sized packets of mixed vegetables which can be put into microwave. Birds Eye ones are called 'Steam fresh', but Tesco and Sainsburys do their own.

I also buy frozen sliced mushrooms and chopped onions as they are almost as cheap as fresh ones. They are great for bolognaise, cottage pie, chillies etc.

Hope that gives you a few more ideas.

Ann

Well done Ellie!

You will find that weight loss will slow down after the initial start of healthy eating and a 'healthy' loss is 1-2 lbs a weeks. If you lost 1lb a week for a year - that would be 4 stones ThumpUp

I am also on oral steroids and can't do ANY exercise - so it can be done. Don't forget to have plenty of variety e.g don't have weetabix EVERY day for breakfast. The body gets used to it and your metabolism slows down. Variety is the spice of life Smile

Best wishes, Ann

Smile ThumpUp BigGrin

As you can see - I'm pretty pleased with myself this week. I've been stuck on a bit of a plateau for a few weeks and my WW leader says that this does happen sometimes when you have been on the plan for a while - in my case 8 months- so I did the 'Fast start' plan which you do when you first start at WW. Just one week and I LOST 2lbs !!! Again, the food was different to what I have been having, although I do try to vary my meals and try at least one new recipe a week. It was easy to do because the choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner are written down and so there was no 'wondering what to have each day'. I really stuck to it and the loss has boosted my motivation. She also advised me to drink the equivalent of 1.5 litres of water per day. The down-side of this is that I'm always in the loo Huh But we should always drink plenty because of the meds we take. Lots of water keeps the kidneys healthy.

So I'm into another week with renewed energy and another 16 sausages lighter !

Hope everyone is doing ok. Any questions, do ask on here. I'm sure someone will be able to give an answer.

Ann
